This piece is inspired by the hippocampus, a curved structure located deep within the medial temporal lobe of the brain.

The hippocampus plays a central role in forming and organizing memories — transforming lived experiences into lasting traces. It is also closely connected to emotional processing, working alongside structures such as the amygdala to shape how we remember not just events, but how they felt.

In this drawing, the layered structure unfolds in a continuous curve, echoing the anatomy of the hippocampus. The different colors represent distinct types of neurons within this region, reflecting its internal organization and functional diversity. Together, they suggest the flow of information — from perception to memory, from moment to meaning.
